"COLONIALISM, CONFLICT & COMMEMORATION"
CALL FOR PAPERS
We invite graduate students and early career researchers from across disciplines to submit abstracts for our annual conference themed ‘Colonialism, Conflict & Commemoration.’ Abstracts can address, but are not limited to the following subthemes:
Settler colonialism: Exploring the enduring impacts and contemporary manifestations of settler colonial projects.
Asymmetric Conflicts: Reckoning with occluded histories of irregular warfare, civil wars, counter-insurgencies, wars of national liberation, and their effects (including but not limited to forced migration, ethnic cleansing, and mass captivity).
Memory and transnational justice: Investigating how memories of colonialism and conflicts are preserved, contested, and reconciled on transnational scales.
Truth and reconciliation: Analyzing mechanisms of truth-telling, justice, and reconciliation in post-colonial and post-conflict contexts.
Networks and methods: Discussing innovative methodologies and theoretical frameworks for studying colonial legacies, conflict dynamics, and commemorative practices.
Submission Guidelines:
Please submit your abstracts and author bios to conference@oxfordtghs.com by the 15th of April
Abstracts should be 300 words or less.
Please include a short author bio (100 words max) listing your university affiliation, and preferred mode of presentation if selected (online, in-person)

Abstract Submission Deadline: 15th April, 2024
Notification of Acceptance: 10th May, 2024
Conference Date: 20th-21st June, Online and in-person
